Advanced Workshop: Potpourri of Effective Hypnotic Skills & Techniques for Children and Adults with Linda Thomson, PhD, APRN, ABMH

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This workshop equips clinicians with advanced hypnotic skills and practical techniques to develop effective treatment plans that actively engage children and adults in addressing medical and psychological challenges.
Participants will explore a diverse range of strategies, including the treatment of functional psychophysiologic disorders, uncovering root causes through ideomotor signaling, and preparing patients for surgery and medical procedures. The program also covers integrating hypnosis into pediatric care for physical, emotional, and behavioral concerns, as well as supporting patients with sleep deprivation and nicotine addiction. Time for guided practice is included, along with exploration of the preventive and therapeutic value of laughter and the effective use of humor in hypnosis.
Learning Objectives
Utilize hypnosis with children for two common pediatric disorders
Identify three ways hypnosis can be integrated into the treatment of patients with psychophysiological disorders.
Describe the seven most common causes of psychosomatic symptoms
Describe three hypnotic interventions to assist patients in achieving improved sleep hygiene.
Describe hypnotic strategies to promote smoking cessation
Describe hypnotic elements in preparation for surgery and post-operative recovery.
Describe how to incorporate humor and laughter into clinical work
THE PRESENTER
Dr. Linda Thomson is a pediatric nurse practitioner. She is a Past-President and Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Linda is an Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis, and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Medical Hypnosis and the American Board of Hypnosis in Nursing.
Linda has published books, chapters, and peer-reviewed journal articles, lectured and taught workshops across the country and around the world, and has been an integral part of ASCH's education, and has received ASCH’s Lifetime Achievement Award and ASCH’s Clinical Hypnosis Education and Training Lifetime Achievement Award.

Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17. The training runs from 9 am to 5:00pm Pacific Time on both days. Lunch is on your own for 75 minutes, so please plan accordingly. There are several food options within walking distance if you prefer to dine out.
Continuing Education
12 ASCH and ACCME CE credits, accepted by most licensing boards for continuing education credit, are Pending Approval by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis for this course offered by the Oregon Society of Clinical Hypnosis. ASCH CE and CME are accepted by most Licensing boards; however, it is your responsibility to verify they are accepted by your licensing body. ASCH Accreditation information
Virtual participants will engage through a monitored chat. The chat monitor will review questions and relay them to the group.
Everyone will have access to the workshop livestream recording for 45 days following its completion. To receive CE and CME credit, you must attend the workshop live (in person or virtual livestream).

Participants must be licensed health care providers (social workers, counselors, nurses, psychologists, dentists, physicians, etc., with a masters or doctorate) with prior training in clinical hypnosis. Residents, interns, and students are eligible if enrolled in a master's or doctoral program and have prior training in clinical hypnosis. Please note: This is an advanced training. Attendees must have completed the prerequisite of an ASCH-certified Level 1 Fundamentals in Clinical Hypnosis course or the equivalent to be eligible for this training.

About the Workshop Venue: The Hyatt Place Portland Airport/Cascade Station
We are excited to present this event at the beautiful Hyatt Place in Portland, OR. We have arranged for a block of discounted rooms to be available for any event participants that will be traveling from out of town to attend this workshop (or just want to turn your workshop weekend into a staycation!). Issuance of Completion Certificate:
Certificates will be issued via email within 10 days following completion of the online evaluation form.
Event Cancellation Refund Policy:
Cancellation refund requests submitted in writing to info@oregonhypnosis.org at least 21 days before the start of the workshop will receive an 100% refund of the amount paid less a $25 administrative charge. Cancellation refund requests received 20 -15 days before the start of the workshop will receive a 50% refund of the amount paid less a $25 administrative charge. No refund will be issued for requests made with 14 days notice or less.
OSCH reserves the right to provide a member or 'workshop registrant a full refund or credit toward a future workshop in special circumstances for compassionate relief at the OSCH board of directors' leadership discretion. Requests must be made in writing prior to the events conclusion.
